4. Jenkon Partners with Customers to Move Their Businesses Forward!
Changes International
A major system upgrade to Jenkon's latest release of Summit V® recently concluded with Changes International. In the spirit of a true partnership Jenkon and Changes formulated a project plan to achieve a number of key business initiatives. The magnitude of the upgrade was significant and some of the highlights included hardware system relocation, operating system conversion, database conversion, and upgrades to Summit V and NOW!® Online (a.k.a. “Interchanges”). Thanks go to Kent Kessler and his team at Changes, along with Jenkon's project team, in making the upgrade a success. Jenkon thanks Changes for being a great partner.
Homes for Living Moves “In-House”!
Homes for Living is a great example of the growth potential of companies in the MLM industry. They were originally a start-up company taking advantage of our hosted JOL (Jenkon On-line) environment. Homes for Living has since experienced such high levels of company growth that their business requirements have evolved to include migration to their own in-house server.
Jenkon is happy to provide software to Homes for Living as they continue to expand the business.
Matthias Rath Incorporated
In the constant pursuit of developing strategic global relationships, Jenkon is pleased to have the opportunity to provide solutions for Matthias Rath's expanding business. With world headquarters based out of Holland, Matthias Rath has just recently opened their U.S. office.
We had the pleasure of hosting several employees from Matthias Rath at Jenkon’s corporate office during the month of August. Having used the Summit V product for 3 years, Matthias Rath took advantage of Jenkon’s continuing training opportunities to improve employee’s knowledge of their core business application.
Jenkon looks forward to working together with Matthias Rath as they broaden their market share and open new operations.
5. Welcome new Jenkon employees
Team Jenkon continues to grow. Allow us to introduce you to:
David Katz - VP of Operations
Jenkon is pleased to welcome David to the organization. David, formerly Director of Worldwide Technical Support at Network Computing Devices Inc., has over 15 years of technical support experience. He is a member of three associations - TSANet (Technical Support Alliance Network), SSPA (Software Support Professionals Association), Customer Support Consortium, as well as being a Microsoft Certified Solution Provider. But is that enough to keep him busy? No, he is also the assistant coach for girl's soccer and Pop Warner football!
Bill Victor - National Sales Director
Although we had to make room for Bill in a crowded office due to our rapid growth, this shouldn't slow him down. With over 15 years professional sales experience, including management and training, Bill will be the driving force for new sales opportunities at Jenkon. Bill's motivational, organizational and leadership skills will greatly contribute to expanding our market share. With extensive analytical experience in the medical and telecommunication fields Bill is poised to embrace the direct selling opportunity.
Gina Hoggan - Technical Support Web Programmer
Gina joins Jenkon after 9 years at Hewlett Packard. At HP, Gina started as a PC Technician and advanced through the ranks of Computer Specialist, Software Technician, and Software Quality Assurance Engineer. These skills, as well as her classes at Chico State and WSU, will be a tremendous asset to the support group.
6. Jenkon Prepares to announce addition to Software Family
Jenkon will be adding a new web-based software product to our software suite later this year. This new offering has been specifically architected to meet the evolving demands of direct selling. Over the past three years we have developed a direct selling software framework that focuses on meeting the accelerating and dynamic pace of business demands, operational insight, rapid implementation, flexibility and scalability.
Stay tuned for the official announcement of the biggest technology news to hit Direct Selling in the last five years!

10. Technology Corner - What is Object-oriented Programming?
When you want to upgrade your car’s radio to a complete sound system, you don’t throw away the car. You change the stereo deck. If that produces the sound you’re looking for, you’re done; if not, you may change the speakers. It’s all done using small parts, or objects.
Object-oriented technology is similar to the car stereo analogy. It’s all about the system’s substance. An object is a “black box” which receives and sends messages. The object actually contains code (which can be Java, C++, Smalltalk or another language that directs the process) and data (which organizes your business’s information into pieces that the system can utilize).
In traditional programming, the code and data have been kept separate. In object-oriented programming, the code and data are merged into a single thing, an object. This has far-reaching effects on how your company conducts business both today and in the future.
Object-oriented programming requires a change in thinking by programmers. Object-oriented software is about what matters in the problem's area or domain. An object is a "little black box" which receives and sends messages. The object actually contains code, which can be Java, C++, Smalltalk or another language, and data. While in traditional programming the code and data have been kept separate, in object-oriented programming the code and data are merged into a single unit, an object.
Every object has a unique identity. This identity makes it possible to tell two objects apart even if each one has the same state and the same value of its attributes. An Attribute defined by a class represents a named property of the class or its objects, such as "first name" for a contact. The state of an object is defined by the value of its attributes (and the existence of links to other objects).
